Key features of tubular shelving

A modular, high-performance storage solution for industrial and domestic environments, designed for speed of assembly and adaptability.

  • Quick assembly without specialized tools (25 linear meters in 15 minutes)

  • Load capacity up to 300 kg per level (500 kg in industrial version)

  • Lightweight structure facilitating frequent rearrangements

  • Compatible with a wide range of accessories for customization

  • Epoxy or galvanized finishes depending on the environment

  • Excellent stability even in high configuration (up to 7.5 m)

What types of tubular shelving exist?

To meet the varied needs of storage environments, several configurations exist:

  • Heavy-load Protub shelving

Benchmark in assembly speed with only 5 components. One person installs 25 linear meters in 15 minutes, up to 300 kg per level.

  • Metal garage shelves

Specifically designed for domestic environments: robust, stable structure for tools, equipment and supplies, freeing up floor space.

  • Industrial tubular shelving

Versatile solution with adjustable shelves (1 to 5 tubes depending on load), customizable with mesh, metal or wood coverings.

  • Heavy-load storage racks

Designed for demanding industrial environments: reinforced structure that can support up to 500 kg per level, accessible to handling equipment.

  • Tubular shelving with solid base

Perfect for storing tools or small items thanks to their solid metal shelves, which prevent small parts from falling through the tubes.

  • Galvanized tubular shelving

Resist humidity thanks to their galvanized finish. Ideal for humid environments (garages, outdoor workshops) with a capacity up to 265 kg per level.

Criteria for choosing your tubular shelving

4 dimensions to balance to make the right choice.

Shelving load and capacity

Our solutions offer load capacities from 150 to 300 kg per level, suited to professional and domestic uses. 150 kg shelving suits binders, small boxes or tools; reinforced 300 kg versions secure drums, paint cans or heavier boxes. For demanding industrial applications, heavy-load racks support up to 500 kg per level.

Dimensions and modularity

Our shelving is available in many dimensions to fit your space, from garage to large warehouse. The Protub system offers nestable elements of 1 or 1.25 m, allowing assemblies up to 7.5 m high in 6 depths. You combine starter elements with subsequent elements, varying heights and widths to optimize every corner.

Environment and materials

For standard environments (offices, dry workshops, storerooms), our epoxy-painted steel shelving (RAL 5005 blue posts, RAL 7035 gray shelves) offers an economical, durable solution. For humid environments (garages, washing zones), prefer the galvanized version, which naturally resists corrosion. Stainless steel options exist for outdoor applications.

Accessories and customization

Hardboard panels (3 mm wood-fiber boards) can be added to tubular structures to support small items. For specific applications, our shelving comes equipped with garment rods, metal dividers, mesh backs and sides, or retention basins for hazardous materials.

Essential components of tubular shelving

Every MaKitLean shelving unit integrates components designed for performance, stability and durability:

  • Vertical steel posts

Form the shelving frame with their steel structure coated in blue epoxy paint (RAL 5005) or in galvanized version, guaranteeing rigidity and stability even for heavy loads.

  • Tubular shelves

Support the loads with their steel-tube design, offering an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and perfect adaptation to different types of storage.

  • Tool-free connection sleeves

Allow quick, tool-free assembly of the various elements, contributing to the assembly speed of Protub shelving and facilitating reconfigurations.

  • Dividers and reinforcements

Strengthen lateral stability and allow precise adjustment of your shelving configuration as needed. Particularly important for demanding industrial applications.

  • Covering panels and solid backs

Complement tubular shelves for storing small items. Available in hardboard, metal or wood depending on your preferences and the characteristics of the stored products.

Frequently asked questions

  • What's the difference between tubular shelving and classic metal shelving?

    +
The main difference lies in structural design and versatility. Tubular shelving uses steel tubes as the main load-bearing elements, usually assembled without welding via a nesting system or sleeves. This design offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, exceptional modularity and ease of assembly/disassembly without specific tools. Tubular shelving can be reconfigured as needs evolve and supports up to 300 kg per level for some models. Conversely, classic metal shelves are often made from folded sheet metal, with fixed crossbars and posts; they generally offer less flexibility.
  • How to install tubular shelving correctly in my garage?

    +
First check that the floor is flat and stable. Place the vertical posts at the four corners, respecting the desired dimensions. Insert the connection sleeves into the posts at the desired height for each level (start at the bottom). Place the horizontal crossbars on these sleeves, ensuring they are properly engaged. Repeat for each level. Add dividers or cross-braces to reinforce stability. If you opted for shelves with coverings (hardboard, metal, wood), install them on the structure. Finally adjust the adjustable feet. For heavy loads, distribute weight evenly and place the heaviest items on lower levels.
  • What load capacity should I choose for industrial-use shelving?

    +
Precisely determine the nature and weight of goods to be stored. For standard industrial applications (boxes, medium mechanical parts, product containers), shelving of 200 to 300 kg per level generally suffices. For heavier loads (engines, bulky metal parts, building materials), prefer racks supporting 400 to 500 kg per level. Add a safety margin of at least 20% over identified needs. A uniformly distributed load lets you exploit full capacity, while a concentrated load reduces it significantly. Finally check your floor's compatibility with the planned loads.
  • How to optimize garage storage space with metal shelving?

    +
Start with a precise inventory of everything you need to store, sorted by frequency of use and dimensions. Prefer tubular shelving that exploits available height, often underused. Install shelving from floor to ceiling, with levels spaced according to object size. Opt for a modular system to adjust height between levels. Use upper levels for seasonal items, eye-level for frequent items and lower levels for heavy objects. Complement with wall hooks (tools, bikes, ladders), labeled clear bins and dividers. Leave a minimum 90 cm circulation space.
